Frequently asked questions
What areas do you cover?
The studio covers all areas of Manchester and surrounding areas, there are too many to list but include: Alderley Edge, Altrincham, Arley, Bowdon, Bollington, Bramhall, Bury, Cheadle, Chorlton, Delph, Didsbury, Grasscroft, Greenfield, Hazel Grove, Huddersfield, Halifax, Knutsford, Marple, Prestbury, Sale, Uppermill, Wilmslow, Worsley.
The studio also accepts work form all areas of the UK by special arrangement.
How much does a garden design cost?
As all garden design projects vary in size and complexity (such as levels for example or difficult sites,) it is impossible therefore to give an exact figure. Additionally, the requirements on the clients wish list dramatically affects the design work required and so the cost.
The studio works in two ways; firstly, we offer fully bespoke garden design packages. A garden design process, which will start at the survey of a garden and through a staged process, ends with a completed newly designed and built garden.
If the whole process is not required, we can also take individual elements of the design package, such as planting design services or lighting plans and work designs up for you.
The studio also offers a Garden Design Consultation Service. This is a problem solving service and is suitable for those who are looking for expert garden design advice, inspiration and guidance. For more information, please follow this link.
If you are considering investing in your outside space, do contact Jo at Jo Bingham Studio where we can discuss in more detail the cost of bespoke design packages and Garden Design Consultations.
How long will a garden design take?
All the best garden designers follow a process; this can vary but usually follow this pattern:
- Survey
- Sketch or concept design
- Masterplan (click for examples)
Detailed drawings including:
- Layout and dimensional plans
- Planting plans
- Lighting plans
- Drainage plans
- Construction drawings of garden elements such as bespoke elements such as raised beds or pergolas
- Tendering process
- Build supervision
As mentioned previously, not all elements are always required and this discussion will take place early in the client /designer meetings.
The length of time in garden design work depends on the complexity of the project, the processes involved such as permissions and planning, appeals and more.
What helps to have the best Garden Design outcome and speedier processing time is to have clear preferences, fast approval of drafts and of course, an experienced designer. What slows a project down are planning and permission delays, weather delays, indecisiveness and revisions. It really helps to be clear early on in your goal setting and Jo Bingham Studio can help you with this.
Will having a Designed Garden increase the value of my house?
